Everest or upper Khumbu Region, of Nepal is best- known in the world
for trekking and mountaineering. This is the land of the Sherpa people
and the world's highest peaks above 8,000 m such as Mt. Everest
(8850m), Cho Oyo (8153m), Makalu (8470m), Ama Dablam (6856m) and many
other countless trekking peaks. Many trekkers prefer to fly in Lukla
to start the trek and take a day hike to acclimatize at Namche Bazaar.
Trekking to this region lures thousands of adventure seekers to
explore and experience high mountain valleys, high passes, Buddhist
culture and stunning Sherpa villages on such high altitudes. Perhaps
some may even have a chance to have a glimpse of the Yeti! The local
people believe that the Pangboche Monastery actually has in its
possession the real scalp of this Himalayan yeti. Trekkers feel
satisfied themselves being close to the base of Mt. Everest – the
highest mountain in the world.
