 Mt. Kailash alias 'Jewels of snow' as Tibetans call the most sacred mountain in Asia. It is located in the far western part of Tibet, 1600 km from Lhasa or 1000 km from Zhangmu. It is commonly sacred to Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and Bonpos, those adherents of ancient animistic beliefs. In Sanskrit, it is called "Mt. Meru or Sumeru", in Hindi "Kailash or Crystal Shining". To Tibetans it is Kang Rimpoche or the "Precious Jewel of the Snows". It rises from the shores of the sacred Manasarovar Lake (4600 m) soaring to 6723 m. Mt. Kailash is believed to be much older than the Himalayas. For thousands of years the Kailash area the rivers Ganges, the Sutlej, the Indus and the Brahamaputra are originated and drained the vast Tibetan Plateau. Traveling west across southern Tibet is an adventure into another way of life. Nomads herd their sheep and yaks in company of devout pilgrims making their way to the holy sites. Hindus believe that Lord Shiva with his consort, the Goddess Parvati reside here.

This extraordinary journey takes you to Tibet’s mythical Mt. Kailash & Lake Manasarovar through the hidden Humla valley of Nepal’s westernmost Tibetan frontier. Though geographically located in China this holy shrine has been a sacred pilgrimage site for the Hindus, Buddhist, the Jains and the Tibetan Bonpo. Once we reach Mt. Kailash we will make the ‘Kora’ (holy-circuit) trek of the mountain, sharing the trail with many other pilgrims who head for Kailash during the summer months. The tour begins with the flight to Nepalgunj & Simikot of far western Nepal and then we will trek to Mt. Kailash.

Day 20: Drive Parang to Saga (260 km, 7-8 hours drive) overnight guest house/ camp.
Day 21: Drive Saga Nyalam Hotel / Camp.

Day 19: gh the Tibetan countryside past Paiku Tso Lake & small villages plus the Nyalam Pass (3800 m) from where one can enjoy life-time view of Mt. Everest, Mt. Sishapagma & Mt. Chou and then descend the plateau through the winding mountainous road and overnight at Nyalam
Day 22: Drive Nyalam-Zhangmu-Kathmandu-overnight hotel.
